The TARDIS lands on the war-torn planet of Kastarion 3, where a pair of Anglican Marines – the hardest working soldier-clerics in all of space and time, apparently – have just met their ends, one killed by a landmine, the other, John Vater (Joe Anderson, The Devil Conspiracy), by an ambulance that deemed his blindness terminal. The Doctor almost immediately steps on a mine himself, and Ruby must help him survive before it completes its cycle.
